Director education is an essential component of good governance and effective compliance practices for financial institutions. It increases the likelihood of retaining good directors, attracting more candidates, and more highly skilled candidates, to serve on the boards of banks and instilling more confidence on the part of regulators and shareholders.

This 1½ day program will consist of 8 hours of instruction by nationally recognized experts. This executive education program is hosted by the Raymond J. Harbert College of Business at Auburn University and will include faculty and speakers with a mix of academics, professionals, regulators and experienced corporate directors. This event is the perfect way for directors and senior management to come to grips with the shifting ground of risk in banking, the economic environment and the reality of bank safety and soundness. It's also an occasion to compare notes and experiences with other community bank directors.

Opening remarks will be given by Dean Annette L. Ranft, Wells Fargo Chair.

Dr. Ranft serves as the chief academic and administrative officer for Harbert College of Business. Before her appointment, Dr. Ranft served as Dean and Steven P. Zelnak Jr. Chair of North Carolina State University's Poole College of Management.
